Burke Family Vacation

This past week we spent our family vacation camping. Our first four night were spent at Myles Standish State Park in Carver, MA and the last three nights were spent at Scusset Beach. We had lots of fun including bike rides, a visit to the yarn shop in Plymouth, campfires with smores, campstove meals, swimming in the pond and playing in the beach sand. Norah had a great time in the water. She began learning to blow bubbles in the water and had a great time wadding in the pond water at Myles Standish. The water at Scusset was WAY too cold to hang out in. I put my feet in and my ankles actually hurt! Tom guessed that the water temperature was in the 50's. Yikes.


Aunt Mary came with us for the week. Kelcey & Rhonda visited us on Wednesday night for dinner. They liked it so much that they came back and got their own site for the weekend. We beat them in Trival Pursuit! Nannie came for a visit and took Norah home for an overnight. Rumor has it that Uncle Pete shared his ice cream with her, but only if she used her "more" sign. We also had a visit from Doug, Missie and Frankie.
Lisa, Momma & Tony were also at Myles Standish in the RV. We enjoyed meeting Lisa's family: Ralph & Darlene from Virgina and Tim & Dianne.


Down at Scusset, we spent time with Aunt Julie and her gang. We took a couple of bike rides along the Cape Cod canal. Our site at Scusset was very cool. We nicknamed it Narnia because it had a back section where we set up the tents. It was very quiet and secluded back there. The floor was covered with a soft layer of pine needles and there were several types of greeen trees and plants. We had a little bit of rain but the tent held up so we stayed dry. We did have a raccoon who liked visiting our site at night; the first night he got some cookies and chips that we left on the picnic table. After that we got wise to him and from then on all he got was coffee grounds and wet diapers out of the hole he made in the trash bag.


We enjoyed our trip but were all happy to return home to hot showers (and bathtubs that we fit in)!
