Baby Days of Summer

Okay, first an update on the "old baby." Norah starts daycare next week. We are excited about it and hope that she will enjoy the socialization. This past Tuesday we went to Target and bought her supplies. It felt like school shopping.

Norah has taken to eating in restaurants! Despite looking like her father, she might be my daughter after all. We ordered her a meal off the kids' menu at Ruby Tuesday. She used a straw for the first time. In addition to her fries and chicken tenders, she ate many items from my salad including ham, boiled egg, chick peas, cheese and pasta. When given a pea, she promptly picked it up (with excellent pincer grasp!) and threw it on the floor!

Those of you who leave in the northeast know how hot and humid it has been lately. Norah has decided to make the best of it. Who says you can't have fun when it's humid?

And now for a "new baby" update. Finally, the nausea has subsided. I still feel rather tired but that is much easier to tolerate. We saw the midwife yesterday and had an ultrasound. The good news is that the placenta has moved away from my cervix. This means I am no longer on activity restriction (and can ride my new bike) and that I am less likely to end up having a c-section. The midwife and ultrasound tech both said that the baby looks great. The heart was beating at 168 beats/minute and the little one measures just over 5 cm from head to rump. That is pretty impressive when you figure that s/he measured just over 1 cm four weeks ago. I, however, have not grown quite that much. The scale at the doctor's office has me up about 9lbs but it's more like 5 by our home scale (without a belly full of iced coffee).

Happy, Safe 4th of July to everyone. Stay tuned as Norah and I have a busy weekend planned!
