First Doctor's Visit

We took Norah to Pediatric Associates for her first visit with Dr. Rok this morning. She weighed in at 7 lbs 13oz. This means she has gained an ounce since leaving the hospital. Doctor Rok said she should be back to birth weight by two weeks. He checked her all out and said that she looks great. She is slightly jaundiced but nothing to worry about. He said that her collar bone is probably already healing as he didn't feel it moving around. It will develop a bump as it heals; this is just extra bone that her body will later reabsorb. It turns out that the broken clavicle is actually a good thing because in that type of presentation she could have damaged the shoulder nerve if the bone didn't break. Something had to give, and the nerve injury could have affected her use of the arm. Lastly, he showed us to to take care of her cord so that it will fall off soon and not get infected. We go back again in a week, mostly to check on her weight. Norah was a real trooper. The room was cold and she really hated the being naked part. She did a lot of hollering but he said that shows she has strong lungs. She settled down once we got her dressed. The three of us took a walk around Kennedy Park after the appointment. Norah loves to ride in the sling with daddy.
