"18 Month" Check Up

Even though Norah is 19 months old now, we had her "18 month" check up today. She is back up to 5th percentile for weight, now weighing in at 21 lbs!! She measured 31.5 inches long. The doctor said that developmentally she looks just fine. He did notice a bit of fluid in her left ear and a yeasty looking diaper rash so we left with scripts for an antibiotic and more anti-fungal ointment. Since she didn't have a fever from the mild ear infection, Norah had her final Hep A vaccination and a flu shot today. She was brave!

An update on Norah's new tricks.
She is now counting....well, she says "two" and "five." When we snap her onsies, we count the snaps. We say "one," she says "two, five." It's pretty cute. I figure if we keep practicing, she'll figure out the other numbers.

Norah can tell you that a cow says "moo" and that a cat says "meow." This seems tied to the books we've been reading lately. She has become a lot more interested in books, often bringing you a book and climbing up in your lap so you can read it to her. She (sort of) pays attention and likes to flip the pages.

We estimate that Norah has about 20 words now. Some of her latest are more, book, yellow, some and juice.

Norah has decided that she likes to escape the "gated community" that is our living room. We have been working on child proofing other rooms so that she can spend time in other parts of the house without reeking too much havoc!

Next up is getting a toddler bed. We are hoping to work on this transition so that Finn can have the crib when the times comes....
